The Model Black is a new car shopping platform. Shoppers see partner inventory with any dealer savings shown on the vehicle. With a complimentary account, each new car is priced three ways for where they live, and members send a complete purchase file for the car they choose when they are ready. Your store sells or leases the car and completes the purchase directly with the buyer, on your paperwork.
Most stores lose the buyer the day the plates arrive and spend the next four years hoping to find them again. On The Model Black the member keeps an ownership page, and it points back at the store that sold them the car.
You will hear from us within the hour during business hours, usually within minutes. A note with what happens next is on its way to your inbox. Prefer to set the time yourself? The calendar is to the right.
The same calendar has its own page too, easy to share with your team: themodelblack.com/book.
One store per brand in each market area: while your store is in good standing, we do not enroll another store of your brand located in your Market Area. Every new car in your feed priced three ways for the shopper's ZIP with your rules, your fees disclosed, and your identity held back until the buyer sends you their deal. Members arrive with a complete purchase file: application, identity, insurance, trade, and documents.
By brand and Market Area. Your Market Area is the counties, or the ZIP codes, written on your Order Form. While your store is in good standing, we do not enroll another store of a brand on your Order Form whose store is located inside it (Dealer Participation Agreement, Sections 3.6 and 3.7). It covers who we enroll, not what shoppers see: shoppers in your area can still see other participating stores' cars by distance or with delivery, and paid placements follow the Advertising Addendum. It ends if the agreement ends or your listings are suspended.
No. This is how we say it to shoppers: “The Model Black is not a licensed motor vehicle dealer or broker and does not act as a broker in any way. Participating dealerships sell and lease every vehicle and complete each purchase directly with you.” Your store is the seller, on your own paperwork and under your own licenses. The Concierge answers shoppers' questions; it does not negotiate or carry offers.
We are finishing our dealer packages now. In a preliminary conversation we walk you through the options for your store, and every term is in writing before anything is signed.
Yes, if you want to. You set where you ship and what it costs: distance bands from the store, an open rate and an enclosed rate for each, local delivery inside your radius, and by quote past your last band. Leave shipping off and your cars simply show as pickup. The member sees your shipping number with the rest of the deal before they send it.
They keep an ownership page on their side of the platform: their manual, roadside number, warranty and maintenance schedule, and a service advisor from your team assigned by name with a phone, a text line, and your scheduling link. After delivery, you are the store that sold them their car, and your relationship with them is your own.
Within the hour during business hours, and usually within minutes. It is the same standard we ask of partner stores for their leads, so we hold ourselves to it first.
No. You give us an inventory feed, set your pricing rules in the partner portal, and each deal arrives by email to the people you choose, as a push notification, and in the portal with the complete file. Your team keeps working the way it works.
