How it works.

Skip the negotiation. With your complimentary account, each dealership shows you its bottom line price and its savings off MSRP up front, and every new car in partner inventory is priced out the door three ways for where you live, with estimated taxes and fees. No back and forth, no hours wasted at the dealership, and each car shows whether its dealership can bring it to you. The Model Black is launching in Arizona and is open to shoppers anywhere in the United States.

Meet the Concierge.

Say it in plain words. The Concierge is our AI assistant: it searches live inventory, quotes an estimate at your profile, and runs cash against a one-pay lease so the math makes the call. When you would rather hear from a person, email concierge@themodelblack.com and someone on our team answers.

I pay cash and keep my cars about three years. Should I just buy it?

Three years is the common lease term. Here is the car at your profile, registered where you live:*

Pay cashout the door, then you carry the depreciation
One-pay leaseClosed-end one-pay lease: one payment due at signing covers all 36 months, nothing monthly. No security deposit. 10,000 miles a year, $0.25 a mile over, and excess wear charges may apply at lease end.
Not spent at signingyours to invest while you drive; at lease end you return the car, while a cash buyer still owns theirs

Questions, answered.

What will my monthly car payment be?

Your payment depends on the car's price, your credit tier, your down payment and trade equity, your loan term, and the taxes and fees where you register the car. The Model Black estimates all of it for every new listing: set your deal profile once and every new car shows an estimate of your payment at that profile, itemized down to the doc fee. The lender sets the final rate and terms.

Can I see car payments without a credit check?

Yes. The Model Black estimates your rate from your self-reported credit score using risk-based pricing, the same method lenders use. There is no credit pull, no social security number, and no application until you choose to apply for financing on a specific car.

Are taxes and fees included in the payment?

Each figure says what is in it. A finance payment or an out-the-door price includes the dealership's documentary fee (not a government fee) and estimated taxes and government fees for where you register the car: your local sales tax, title and plate fees, and the vehicle license tax. A lease payment includes estimated taxes where your state taxes the payment, and the documentary fee and government fees are due at signing unless you roll them into the payment. Each car shows its own dealership's documentary fee, and a car shows a price only once that fee is on file.

How do I know if a car is a good deal?

Every new car shows its MSRP and, with open pricing, its savings off MSRP and your payment three ways with the taxes and fees for your ZIP built in. Compare the out-the-door number, not the sticker.

What happens when I submit a form?

Nothing you enter reaches a dealership until you send your deal. If you ask us a question, someone from The Model Black answers you directly. When you send your deal, the dealership receives your information and works with you directly from there.

Is my estimated rate the rate I will actually get?

Not necessarily, because it is an estimate until a lender reviews your application. Estimated APR: An estimate for your credit range, term, and vehicle, built on Rateous risk-based pricing and current market rates, and including the selling dealership's financing participation where it applies. It is not an offer from any lender; the lender sets your actual APR. Your actual rate and qualifications come from the lender when you apply for financing through the dealership on the car you choose.
