By The Model Black · Updated September 30, 2026

Pick your credit score range and the loan rate starts at Rateous's rate for that range and term. Type the price, your down payment, and your trade-in, and see the monthly payment, the amount financed, and the total interest, with your state's tax and fees built in.

Your loan payment.

Type your own numbers and see the same car priced as cash and as a loan, with the taxes and state fees for Arizona. Nothing you type is saved or used to check your credit.

Lease

To see a lease, pick a vehicle. A lease is priced on one car: what it is expected to be worth at the end (its residual) and the leasing company's money factor change by model and by month.

Pick a vehicleHow leasing works

An estimate on the numbers you type, not an offer of credit or a quote from any dealership. Starting loan rates are Rateous's rates for each credit range and term; they are not an offer from any lender. The documentary fee starts at an example figure, the state's legal cap where it has one or $599 where it does not, not any dealership's fee; each dealership sets its own. Taxes and state fees are estimates for Arizona; the dealership's paperwork and your motor vehicle agency have the final numbers. Nothing you type is saved or used to check your credit. To show new cars that fit your payment, the price range, your credit range, the term, and your cash down and trade go to The Model Black only to price those cars, and none of it is saved.

What is in the amount financed.

The amount you borrow is the price plus sales tax, title, registration, and the dealership's fee, minus your cash down, your trade-in equity, and any rebates. If you still owe more on your trade than it is worth, the difference is added to the loan.

Rateous rates by credit score and term.

The APR the calculator starts from for each credit range and term: Rateous's rate for a current-year car at a loan-to-value of about 90 percent, including an estimate of dealer participation. None of these is an offer, and a rate a lender quotes you replaces them. Rateous is an affiliate of The Model Black.

Questions.

What APR can I get with my credit score?

The table above shows Rateous's rate for each credit range and term, the rate the calculator starts from. The rate a lender gives you depends on the lender, the car, the term, and how much you put down.

Does shopping for a car loan hurt my credit?

Checking your own credit does not. When lenders pull your credit for an auto loan, credit scoring models count several auto loan inquiries within a short window as one, so you can compare offers without being penalized for each one (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau).

Is a 72 or 84 month car loan a good idea?

It lowers the payment but raises the total interest, and the loan can stay above the car's value for longer, which matters if you trade early. The term table above shows how much the interest grows with each longer term.

How much should I put down on a car?

Enough that the loan is not larger than the car is worth. A bigger down payment lowers the payment and the interest, and it protects you if you sell or trade the car early.
